１）After having actually experienced moving your pet overseas, what were you worried about or struggled with?

A. I was worried about how my dog would settle being away from me and also with the plane. I was very worried about putting her into cargo.

２）Please tell us if there was an incident that helped you to alleviate your worries or concerns.

A. I watched a documentary to learn about how pets are transported, I was lucky that Heathrow Animal Reception Center was featured in many shows! My father also travelled to meet us in the country we were residing for a few days so my dog could be used to him when we moved into his home.

３）Please let us know if there was anything in particular you paid attention to until the day of departure.

A. I made sure I had all my paperwork organised and booked my vet appointment for deworming far in advance.

４）What was it like when you reunited after arriving at your new home?

A. My dog was very happy! She didnt soil her blankets in cargo so they were all returned to us. She had a little crusty eyes which made me feel sad because it showed the stress she went under during flight. However she settled quite quickly! Keeping routines in similar times and styles despite the new location helps a lot.

７）How did you find a local veterinary clinic? (Please tell us any tips for finding a clinic.)

A. My family recommended the clinic they use.

９）Do you have any advice or messages for people who are considering moving their pets overseas?

A. For pets with minor separation anxiety, crate train with an open door crate for a few months before. Always associate the crate with calm and happiness, such as treats. When I cleaned up all my dogs toys I always just put them in the crate and she would wander in and out to select a toy. Learn what you can about how pets are transported to help alleviate your worries.
